Covid-19 Motherwell Relief Project

Covid-19 Motherwell Relief Project

The Covid-19 pandemic took the world by surprise in 2020 and many of our communities were negatively affected by the lack of financial income and school feeding schemes. We intervened to offer help by running a 7-day soup kitchen to provide aid to the children and elderly in Motherwell.

For the period of 20th April till the 20th May we have managed to serve a total of 3,681 meals and 600 loaves of bread. There was an average of 100 children and 20 adults per day.  The soup kitchen currently runs 7 days a week and serves children and highly disadvantaged elders in the Motherwell community. We had a total of 25 volunteers assisting with making soup daily.  We managed to take an average of 40 litres of soup and 20 loaves of bread, to the soup kitchen daily. We also received donations of bread, oranges, naartjies, chickens, vegetables, soup ingredients, hand sanitizer and cloth facemasks..
